Gulliver's Travels

Author: Jonathan Swift

Premise: Lemuel Gulliver's voyages take him to lands peopled by very different inhabitants. The tiny Lilliputians squabble with neighbours over how to crack an egg. The Laputans are scientifically advanced but wholly impractical. The equine Houyhnhnms are refined, unlike the degenerate humanoid Yahoos. Swift's caustic satire of 18th-century society has lost none of its power, exposing the follies, vices and irrationality of the human race.
